Nervous but ready

Ok everyone, lets hope for a good night sleep before the big day tomorrow. I will try to let people know once I get notified what the doctor finds. Good night!

The Big Show

So its that time. We've been planning for this from the beginning of Shaun's treatment. Once chemo is over, a surgeon would look laprascopically for anything in his abdomen. If he finds anything, he's going to go right in and cut it out then proceed with the "shake and bake" procedure I've mentioned previously. Its where they inject the abdomen with warm chemo drugs and shake Shaun around for 60-90 minutes so it coats his insides really well. Then they drain it and he's off to recovery. So like I said, it's that time. Originally, this procedure was scheduled for this Tuesday, but its been rescheduled for MONDAY, MAY 24th. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing (more time to worry about it and the results, but also more time to enjoy good food and nice weather). I guess I favor the latter. Please keep Shaun in your thoughts and prayers for this procedure. We are hoping he is all clear, but this procedure could be the cure we are looking for. Either way, we are hopeful and keeping a positive outlook on things.

In other news, Shaun had one of his best golf games in recent memory yesterday with his dad (4 over par; 76). Hmm, could professional golf be in his future?

ALL CLEAR!

Scans look good! So the next step is to talk to his surgeon who will look laproscopically at his abdomen for any out growth of cells. If nothing is there, he goes on with life as normal (until his next scan in 3 months). If they do find anything, he'll have surgery to remove it. Either way we have a plan and I think we are both optimistic that he will be cancer free! Thanks to everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers!

Updates

Sorry about the lack of posts, I blame my boss, oh and P90X. Shaun and I have started exercising after Bryce goes to bed so that cuts into my blog/aimless internet search time.

Some things to update everyone on. We will be moving!! The Dunns offered to let us live with them in their new house that they will close on in July. Its right by Lake Arlington with a park literally in the back yard. Its an amazing house and we are excited to have some room for Bryce to run around and someone for him to play with (Eliot!!). More on that as it develops. Here's the link to the house.

Bryce is doing great!!! He loves to point out objects he knows then make corresponding noises. So the elephant goes "Eee", dog says "woof", monkey is a "boo", chickens (actually all birds right now) say "bock", cars go "vroom", the list goes on and on. Not sure when he learns the real words for things, but for now, its super cute. I smile every time he goes "Eeee".

Shaun is doing well too. He's keeping busy studying for the bar exam, helping out around the apartment and watching Bryce quite a bit. I'm jealous of all the fun they get to have including the zoo, the Shedd aquarium and the botanic garden. Shaun's scans and check ups will be next week, so keep your fingers crossed the chemo worked.

In my world, things are busy and there isn't enough time for everything. But, I'm managing. I submitted another grant this week, presented a poster (Shaun calls it my 3rd grade science project poster) and even did some experiments. So hopefully things will settle down soon.

I think Shaun should be in charge of the uploading of pictures from now on onto the blog, but we'll see if that happens. Anyways, have a wonderful weekend everyone.
